About me

With everyone chatting about AI non-stop these days, I couldn’t help but wonder what would pop up if I searched my full name using Google’s AI overview. Here are the results:

Ali M. Kojok is a professional digital experience specialist and froadeveloper who is widely recognized within the international open-source web development community.

Algorithms aside, the real human result I’d like to refer myself to is: a little shy kid who once built random websites for fun and grew to embrace the people part of it, the origin story about my beginnings and community involvement can be found on: “Hello world!

Today, I specialise in managing web projects for worldwide clients and agencies mostly in the tourism sector, developing inclusive and accessible digital experiences. I also contribute to the WordPress project through the Polyglots team, do content & PR for the WordCamp Europe communications team since 2024, as well as organising local WordCamps in both Italy & Switzerland.

What are my interests?

If I’m not building websites with WordPress and co., you’ll find me cooking, wandering around museums, or hiking while taking amateur landscape shots. I used to binge watch football, especially supporting West Ham United & AC Milan, but life sometimes forces us to have something called “work” get in the way of that, however I still enjoy some football, martial arts, and tennis every now and then. A recent nerd’s hobby is testing basic AI-powered automations that can simplify everyday life or some work processes, because why not?

Why WPAli.me?

On the table of a pre-WCEU dinner back in spring 2024, friends suggested I create a personal account as they could only find my studio’s X handle to tag me in the group photo we took.

And what is easier to stick for a guy named Ali that builds with WordPress? Calling him the WP Ali. It’s not that deep after all, I know.

Not to be confused with the website wpali.com (inactive since 2018) or its owner.
